New 2014 Conventions

New Conventions of 2014

With 2013 coming to a close, 2014 brings a new year and new conventions. We’ve compiled a list of all the conventions making their “debut” this coming year.

Otakon vegasJanuary-

Otakon Vegas– Las Vegas, NV
“Otakon Vegas is a brand new event from the people behind Otakon, one of North America’s largest celebrations of anime and East Asian popular culture. We’re starting the way Otakon started, as a smaller, cozier, hotel-based convention. But we’re starting it on the Las Vegas Strip.”

Sands of Anime- Cocoa Beach, FL
“Sands of Anime is an upcoming three day anime and gaming convention, opening its doors January 2014. We are bringing all otakus, gamers and fandom members of all kinds fun, excitement and to a different part of Florida, Cocoa Beach. Although it may be a bit cold come this time of year (yes Northerners, we Floridians freeze at 65-70 degrees F), the Convention lays walking distance from the beach, providing a beautiful and open atmosphere, great photo shoot backdrops as well as something to do outside of the building as well as inside.”

February-

Pensacon- Pensacola, FL
“February 21-23, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Grand Hotel and Pensacola Bay Center in downtown Pensacola. Seeking to be an all inclusive convention for the fan community, Pensacon will incorporate many genres – Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, Comics, Anime, Gaming and more!”

March-

Kaizokucon- Cork, Ireland
“Kaizoku Con is Cork’s first and only Anime and Sci-fi convention.
Taking place on the 28-30th March 2014 in University College Cork, we will host panels, traders, artists and very special guests, to be announced at Eirtakon this year!”

May-

Omni Expo- Orlando, FL
“OMNI EXPO is a combination of this generation’s craving for the latest and greatest that Technology has to offer and the yearning for a world with infinite possibilities. It will bring together the world of today and tomorrow, interspersed with the world of fantasy, which influences minds to believe in the possibilities of the future.
The event will combine major corporate players in the fields of Electronics, Video, Games, Communications, Anime licensing, Home Video, and more. It will also include the showcasing of several of Florida’s largest established Fan Genre Conventions in Sci-Fi, Anime, and Comics – BelleCon, EvilCon, Holiday Matsuri, Khaotic Kon, Mythicon, and Shadocon.”

June-

Seattle CosCon- Seattle, WA
“Seattle CosCon is for the whole cosplay community: new, veteran, professional, models, crafters, photographers, and enthusiasts. Seattle CosCon is a space where Cosplay is not sidelined or judged, but is instead celebrated and shared as it’s own art – acting as an ambassador to the world and helping to share what cosplay is all about. The first Seattle CosCon will take place in June 2014 (exact location and dates TBD), in the Seattle area. The convention will included an expo hall, pannels, workshops and other cosplay oriented events. We want to create Seattle CosCon with input from the community so feel free to get in touch with us if you have ideas.”

August-Anime California

Anime California- Orange Grove, CA
“Welcome to the greatest anime experience to hit any coast ever. Anime California will bring eSports and Anime fans together to celebrate Japanese culture, music, and animation. Join us to celebrate anime, professional gaming, music, and more. We’ll be having Anime California at the Hyatt Regency Orange County from August 22-24, 2014.”

September-

Amelia Con- Amelia Island, FL
“Amelia Con is the first and only “nerd” convention on Amelia Island, Florida. We’re bringing you popular media, comic book, and pop culture icons, exhibitors, artists, and events from near and far. Click to learn more about the convention and all the excitement coming to Amelia Island, Florida in September 2014!”

Anime Fargo- Fargo, ND
“A few Fargoans decided it was about time Fargo hosted an anime convention. After gathering adequate support, Anime Fargo was born! We are immensely excited to organize the first Fargo anime con, which will take place September 26-28, 2014 at the Doublewood Inn in Fargo. Many details, such as registration fees, are still being worked out, but you will be the first to hear about it when those things are decided upon. In the meantime, help us out by spreading the word and gathering support. After all, this con won’t survive without support from the most important part of a convention, the con-goers themselves!”

That is the comprehensive list we have so far. If we missed any, please let us know and we will add it to the list!
